Name of the original practice to be transferred

TRIO Model Entrepreneurship Education

Specific context where the practice has already been implemented/ applied

Austria, Bulgaria, Indonesia, Luxemburg, Slovenia

Conditions of the original practice

The Trio Model is a holistic understanding of Entrepreneurship Education.  Entrepreneurship education thus pervades all areas from the entrepreneurial sphere itself to the personal qualities required for socially proactive citizenship. The TRIO Model for Entrepreneurship Education* encompasses three segments (see structure).

* The TRIO Model for Entrepreneurship Education was developed during the scientifically monitored pilot project Schumpeter College (cf. Aff & Lindner 2005; EU Commission 2016, p. 178).

Structures of the original practice

The Trio Model encompasses three segments:

  • “Core Entrepreneurial Education” comprises basic qualifications for entrepreneurial thinking and acting, more precisely the competence to develop and implement ideas.
  • “Entrepreneurial Culture” refers to the promotion of personal competences in a social context. We speak of a culture of open-mindedness, empathy, teamwork and creativity as well as risk-taking and awareness of risks.
  • “Entrepreneurial Civic Education” aims at enhancing social competences and empowering students in their role as citizens. After all, democratic thinking and self-reflection help young people express their opinions and assume responsibility for themselves, others and the environment.

Suggestions on how these will transfer to the new context

The TRIO model provides orientation for the development or use of entrepreneurship programs. The deployment in another region or another country is simple and proven.
