Adventure in Media World

Youth Exchange on Media & Social Media.
Marche-en-Famenne, Belgium.

Have you ever thought about the media and the social media?
How much do they impact our life?
Do they influence the way we see the world?
How do they influence our way we socialise?
Why and how are the media so important for democracy?
Do they encourage hate speech and xenophobia?
Can they be used to promote solidarity, peace and understanding?

The young people tackled the above questions during the youth exchange. The youth exchange gathered five groups of five participants, including participants with disabilities and young asylum seekers, coming from Belgium, Cyprus, Estonia, Spain and Ukraine. During the exchange, the participants developed their knowledge, opinion and awareness about the role and influence of media in our societies.

The activities included interactive, participatory workshops, field visit and artistic workshops. During the exchange, the young people learned how to produce their digital video movie by using a variety of sources: mobile, camera go-pro, camera and more. This artistic process, accompanied by a professional artistic leader, resulted in a movie which was presented and disseminated at a press conference.
