Training course on Gender Equality.

AGIT-POP was a training course for youth workers and educators. There were 30 participants from 12 countries and expert trainers on gender issues and the development of creativity.
Aim
The main aim was to promote gender equality among young people with the development of elements of popular culture as a way to approach them and also to interpret the stereotypes and social roles, which are the origin of patriarchy and produce injustices.
Methods & Topics
The non-formal working methods involved tools such as performances, working groups, debates, games, social interaction and personal learning plan.
The emphasis was on the use of popular culture. Comics, TV series, mainstream movies and books to were used to analyse the images of the female body, the idea of romantic love and the social roles as defined in works of fiction.
Results
In the short term, the project helped the participants acquire new knowledge and perspectives in addressing gender issues in different countries. They have also learned more about popular culture and how it reflects on the relations of power, patriarchy, romantic love and stereotypes. The participants also gained a greater understanding of the Erasmus + Programme.
Partner organisations and youth trainers now have a guide for activities to promote gender equality.
At the same time, the had the opportunity to strengthen their networks with international partners.
In the long term, the project is expected to help fight injustice generated by the division of gender roles.
